AS400 iSeries Technical Support

Our client who are a global leader in the logistics industry have an exciting opportunity for an experienced AS400 iSeries Technical Support Analyst to join their close knit team. The role will involve some hands on support but will predominantly require the successful candidate to manage the clients 3rd party partners and suppliers to ensure all systems run smoothly.

Essential Functions

  • Working alongside our outsource partner;
  • Analyse and monitor network security access, conducting user access reviews as necessary
  • Oversee policies, practices, and controls related to field of expertise; properly document policies, practices, and controls for future reference, updating information as needed.
  • Ensure adequate backup and replication of systems (Mimix High Availability experience preferred)
  • Use expertise to support and provide guidance to Helpdesk and PC Specialists; help resolve escalated issues as needed
  • Assist with supporting IBMi client emulator software, including desktop related support and configuration tasks
  • Monitor / maintain Production, HA and DR systems – backups, patching, storage, other duties as needed
  • Perform off hours work and other duties as business needs arise

Skills required:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a pure IBMi L2/L3 tech support in an enterprise role
  • Background of IBMi L2 & L3 tech support (possibly progressed from a sysops role)
  • IBM AS/400, IBM iSeries, IBM Power 8 platform upwards
  • IBM V9K, V5K, SAN Storage
  • Proven experience of IBMi systems management
  • Work management / job management / performance monitoring
  • System maintenance
  • Apache Servers
  • IBM Web services
  • CL programming (or other languages) a plus
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn/adapt to new technologies and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team (including outsource partner)
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
