Infrastructure Operations Manager

Remote working – 1 week onsite per month

Our client, a leading manufacturing organisation have an opportunity for a strong minded individual, with personality and presence, to assume responsibility for management of 7 engineers providing 24/7 operations and operational support for a considerable infrastructure spanning multiple countries in Europe. You will not be afraid to confront inefficiencies and/or conflicts and to implement change that will drive positive end results to ensure company, team and personal success.

Based remotely anywhere in Europe, regular travel to Gillingham will be required, however tools are available to enable remote management, process/progress monitoring and ultimately results.

Fluency in the English language is crucial, with other languages a considerable plus.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively leading the European Shared Services team as line manager of 7 Infrastructure engineers
  • Responsibility for provision of 24×7 operations support for critical infrastructure services across Europe
  • Driving key strategic goals in the areas of automation, infrastructure observability, process standardization and capacity planning across a variety of Infrastructure systems and services
  • Partner with Support, Business and Application teams to troubleshoot and remediate problems
  • Escalation point for regional Infrastructure leads across Europe
  • Assess/recommend ongoing improvement or re-engineering IT services & technologies
  • Manage/optimise staff resourcing, hiring, training, & supervising IT staff
  • Develop people and talents. Ensure that there are adequate training opportunities to grow
  • Important: European travel required

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience or ambition of leading a team in charge of a 24×7 oriented production environment across multiple data centres
  • Main focus on and passion for leading and mentoring people
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead the daily activities of a technical team including management, mentoring and coaching
  • Experience in dealing with different countries, cultures and the inherent difficulties in cross-border management
  • Ability to effectively communicate effectively to senior management as well as end-users and suppliers/vendors
  • Good understanding of outsourcing and off/near shoring, building win/win strategies and contracts with suppliers/vendors
  • Experience in project management and third party team management
  • Experience in basic financial and asset administration
  • Experience in crisis management with ability to manage the matrix
