Software Development Manager

Our client, a market leader within their field is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to join their team based in Cardiff on a permanent basis. The Software Development Manager will be joining a companmy that provide financial software solutions to their customers. The Software Development Manager post has been created due to group growth and the opening of new divisions. The Software Development Manager focuses equally on strategic and tactical, acting as a strong leader in deploying strategic initiatives, but acting as a strong mentor figure for the Development team to deliver challenging projects.

Software Development Manager – Key Skills:

* Experience working with Agile development methodology
* Involvement in change management processes and leading people through change
* Strong relevant technical skills and experience
* Extensive experience of leading and managing technical resources
* Experience of managing demanding resource schedules
* Significant experience of delivering solutions within financial services sector
* Demonstrable experience of managing processes and quality within a software delivery arena
* Experience of producing detailed & realistic estimates for delivery activities
* Experience of producing and managing individual development plans
* Awareness of relevant technical/product/industry skills & knowledge

Software Development Manager – Responsibilities:

* Provide leadership and support on relevant disciplines in the department.
* Lead, motivate and manage the team. Manage performance of the team by setting SMART objectives and regularly review progress through one to ones.
* In leading the team, actively manage absence or any conduct issues within the team in line with Company procedures.
* Identify subjects/topics for R&D focus and areas for staff skills development.
* Identify skills requirements and acknowledge bottlenecks across team and manage resolution and development.
* Ensure career and development objectives of staff are being met within the context of departmental objectives.
* Identify candidates for technical, product and industry expertise and manage their development.
* Provide guidance to the development team(s) and work closely with them to ensure successful delivery of projects.
* Drive the software development function in a modern and progressive manner utilising the latest approaches in the delivery of software solutions
* Innovate. Software development approaches are constantly evolving and must be capable of embracing change & new ways of working seeing change as an opportunity to constantly push and challenge the status quo
