AI Cloud Engineer

Inside IR35 – 4 days onsite

We are seeking a hands-on AI Cloud Engineer to join a high-performing Corporate Technology team within a global investment banking environment. This role sits within Digital Engineering Services and is focused on building secure, scalable cloud and AI solutions that support enterprise-wide innovation.

You will join a small, dynamic engineering team working across Azure, Oracle Cloud, and AWS, helping to design and deliver next-generation cloud patterns, automation frameworks, and AI-enabled solutions in a highly regulated environment.

This is a unique role at the intersection of cloud engineering, software development, and AI enablement. You will design and implement robust cloud and AI solutions, develop reusable automation, and help establish governance controls for responsible AI adoption.

The position is ideal for an engineer with deep Azure expertise, strong Python skills, and a passion for building secure and innovative solutions in financial services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud and AI-ready solutions across Azure (primary), Oracle Cloud, and AWS.
• Develop automation, integrations, and bespoke engineering solutions using Python and PowerShell.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and identity-aware service patterns.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, ARM, and Terraform.
• Deliver BAU support and project work for cloud and AI workloads.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Implement governance controls and AI guardrails aligned to regulatory and security requirements.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to improve platform stability, compliance, and cost efficiency.
• Produce architecture and engineering documentation to support repeatable solution patterns.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on Azure engineering experience.
• Excellent Python and PowerShell scripting skills.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, ARM, Terraform).
• Experience developing REST APIs and service integrations.
• Strong understanding of Entra ID, OAuth2, token-based authentication, and identity-driven design.
• Practical experience with Azure OpenAI and OpenAI SDKs.
• Solid knowledge of IAM, cloud security, governance, and compliance.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Azure certification (AZ-104 or higher).
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent commercial experience.

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to Oracle Cloud and/or AWS.
• Experience with Azure API Management or similar API gateways.
• Knowledge of Responsible AI, AI governance, and model lifecycle controls.
• Experience with embeddings, vectorisation, and AI orchestration frameworks.
• Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.
